Description
Gardenia taitensis, also known as Tahitian gardenia, tiare Tahiti or by its Tahitian name of mā’ohi, is the national flower of Tahiti. It is used extensively in flower garlands to welcome people to the islands. Tahitians wear the flowers in their hair, the women wearing open flowers and the men wearing buds. A flower worn behind the left eat shows that a person is an a relationship, and if worn behind the right ear shows that the person is not romantically attached to anyone.
